  • Low value/appeal prize: ebooks, DVDs, apps, downloads, coupons, under $20 in value, location specific prizes, unknown brands, etc.
  • Giveaway has limited eligibility. Open to Canada only or UK only, for example
  • High barrier to entry. Requiring entrants to register for an account, create an app, write an article, refer friends, download an app, play a game, etc.

These giveaways will generally see an average CPV/CPC at the higher end of the range.

Examples:

  • Giveaways listed for two months will see more views than giveaways listed for three days.
  • Giveaways open worldwide will see more views than giveaways open to Canada only (or US only, UK only, etc.).
  • Giveaways with broad appeal prizes (gift card, cash, electronics) will see more views than limited appeal or low-value prizes (ebooks, under $10 value, online courses or downloads, etc.).
  • Easy to enter giveaways will see more views than giveaways that require entrants to register for an account, make a video, refer the most friends, etc.

Impressive numbers aren’t everything. It’s a better idea to target quality over quantity. The more specific and targeted your prize is, the more targeted your leads will be.

If you are giving away a niche book with the goal of attracting readers; fewer, hyper-targeted entrants are going to be of much greater value to you than a higher quantity of general entrants.

Tip: Maximize your results! Ordering additional email and social media promotion is suggested for prizes with lower appeal, restricted eligibility, etc.
